Weapon Ascension Guide

The Ascension update (June 19, 2026) added the most impactful endgame progression system in Broken Blade. Learn how to unlock Ascension, roll Breakthrough multipliers, and farm Charon for Soul Ore.

What Is Weapon Ascension?

Weapon Ascension is a new power layer that sits above Soul Forge. Once your main weapon reaches Soul Forge level 12, you can unlock the Ascension menu and gain massive stat bonuses including up to +300% Damage, +450% Health, +20% Crit Chance, and +100% Crit Damage.

The core mechanic is Breakthrough — every weapon starts at a 1.0× multiplier, and you can reroll for higher values between 1.1× and 2.0×. A 2.0× multiplier doubles the value of every Ascension stat, making it the ultimate endgame min-max grind.

How to Unlock Ascension

  1. 1 Upgrade your main carry weapon to Soul Forge level 12 on Jotunheim.
  2. 2 Visit the Ascension NPC on Jotunheim tower level 1, next to the Soul Forge station.
  3. 3 Only invest in weapons you plan to keep — Soul Forge 12 requires substantial resources.
  4. 4 Redeem Arkenstone codes (BBDC milestone batches) before starting Breakthrough rolls.

Tipps

  • Do not rush Ascension on a weapon you will replace soon.
  • The Soul Forge Boost game pass provides 2× success chance but is not required for F2P players.

Breakthrough & Materials

Breakthrough attempts consume Arkenstone and Holy Grail. Arkenstone comes from milestone redeem codes and late-game rewards. Holy Grails drop from Sky Spire floors 41 and above, with better rates on higher floors.

Stack 100 Holy Grails for Excalibur before spending grails on Breakthrough rolls on a different weapon. Chasing a perfect 2.0× multiplier is expensive — set a realistic target like 1.5× or higher for your main carry.

Soul Ore & Charon Boss

Soul Ore is a new endgame material introduced in the Ascension update. It drops from Sky Spire floors 101–200 and from the Charon boss encounter on the expansion route.

Charon is tied to the Sky Spire expansion and serves as a primary farming target for Ascension-era upgrades. Save Soul Ore until you understand its full use — new materials typically become critical for future update systems.

New Aggro Stat

The update also added a new Aggro stat that determines how likely enemies are to target you. Higher Aggro means enemies and bosses focus you more often.

Aggro was introduced in preparation for future raid content where teams may need dedicated tank, DPS, and support builds rather than everyone stacking pure damage.
